Expansion of the Park Area, Driving Urban Transformation, and Promoting Local Employment
1. Overview of Development
The types introduced into STSP are mainly divided into seven major industries, including integrated circuit, precision machinery, optoelectronics, computers and peripherals, communications, biotechnology and others. Continuing the great operating performance in 2022 and benefiting from the solid support of the integrated circuit industry's 3-nanometer advanced process production, the overall turnover in 2023 reached NTD 1.5855 trillion, a 6.88% increase compared with 2022, exceeding NT$ 1 trillion for three consecutive years.

In addition, driven by the magnetic attraction effect of industrial clusters, the number of approved manufacturers in 2023 reached 273, and among them, 22 are from newly established Ciaotou, Chiayi, and Pingtung Science Parks, showing that the investment appeal continues to grow.

In 2023, 20 manufacturers (including 7 start-up companies) were introduced into STSP, with an investment amount of approximately NTD 30.169 billion. Among the new manufacturers, 6 have the unit output value per hectare more than NT$ 1 billion. There were 9 plant construction projects in the same year.

2. Growth in Employment
The industrial clusters in STSP are thriving. To assist the park manufacturers in finding good talents and help the job seekers with employment opportunities, STSPB works with the local government and other business units to co-organize a number of talent recruitment activities every year. As of December, 2023, the total number of employees in STSP has reached 92,300. We hope to attract more excellent talents to join STSP and bring vitality to the science park.

3. Expansion of the Park Area
The Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP) consists of the Tainan Science Park, the Kaohsiung Science Park, the Ciaotou Science Park, the Pingtung Science Park, the Chiayi Science Park, and preparation for the Nanzih Science Park. According to the land lease statistics, as of the end of December, 2023, the lease rate of Tainan Science Park was 99.63%, Kaohsiung Science Park was 98.97%, and Ciaotou Science Park was 71.06%.

To cope with the challenges of industrial development, the Bureau has prepared the industrial layout in advance to prepare land for industrial development and gather resources for industrial development. In addition, the development thinking incorporated with innovation, sustainability, inclusion is introduced to assist in the upgrading of local industries, promoting of newly established expansion parks, expanding the existing effect of industrial clusters, driving innovation of local industries by integrating software and hardware resources, strengthening regional economic resilience, and completing the technology corridor in southern Taiwan.
