Portrait of the STSP Bureau Director-General

In 2023, faced with challenges such as global inflation, interest rate hikes, inventory overhang, and geopolitical influences, Southern Taiwan Science Park Bureau (STSP) demonstrated resilience against headwinds, and the overall revenue surged by more than NT$ 100 billion compare with the previous year, reaching over NT$ 1 trillion for three consecutive years. Moreover, industry investments have also shown numerous highlights. In 2023, 20 new manufacturers were introduced to the park, with an investment amount of NT$ 30.169 billion. Furthermore, high-tech manufacturers in the park continue to invest resources to implement the investment plans in the park, enhancing the competitiveness of the industrial cluster.

The turnover continues to rise, the investment promotion has achieved remarkable results, and the construction of each park is also in full swing simultaneously. The third-phase expansion project of Tainan Science Park, the on-schedule progress of Ciaotou Park, the initiation of ground-breaking and investment solicitation progress of Chiayi and Pingtung Parks, the approval of the establishment of Nanzi Park, the continuous optimization of the hardware and software facilities of the existing parks are on-going. STSP is moving toward Taiwan's 2035 vision of Forward-looking and Innovation, Democracy and Inclusiveness, Resilience and Sustainability.

In addition, STSP continues to actively promote sustainable resources. The total supply of reclaimed water from Yongkang, Anping Reclaimed Water Plants and the one within the park increased to 58,000 tons/day, accounting for 20% of the water use in Tainan Science Park, stabilizing the regional water supply. STSP's sustainability measures were recognized by 2023 TCSA (Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards) and the Sustainability Report won the highest Platinum Award in Government Agencies Voluntary Department Review of Sustainable Development and the Workplace Wellbeing Leadership Award. The Resource Recycling Center also actively improves the energy efficiency of facilities and promotes various energy-saving measurements. We also won the Silver Medal for Energy Saving Benchmark Award granted by MOEA in 2023.

Throughout the journey, STSP has been overcoming obstacles and laid a solid foundation for future success. The annual turnover exceeds NT$ 1 trillion every year. Coupled with the subsequent expansion of the third-phase expansion project of Tainan Science Park, and the establishment of facilities in Ciaotou, Pingtung, and Chiayi as well as Nanzi Science Parks, it can be described as prosperity from multiple avenues, providing abundant momentum for industrial development. In the future, STSP will continue to promote innovation and transformation of the park, assist manufacturers and local respondents to prosper together in harmony. We look forward to working with all sectors to build a technology corridor in Southern Taiwan and create a science park of sustainability and livability.
