1. Greenhouse Gas Inventory

STSPB continues to conduct annual GHG inventory, and the organizational boundaries of the inventory include Tainan Science Park and Kaohsiung Science Park. The expansion of the factories of business units continues while the park is in operation. To grasp the GHG emissions in the science park, the 2022 GHG inventory was conducted in 2023, and the total emissions of Scope 1+2 in 2022 amounted to 8,923,342.174 tonCO2e, and the GHG emission intensity dropped by 22.5% compared with 2021. Scope 3 was also included, with the emission of 1,445,675.02 tonCO2e. STSP Bureau actively conducted energy conservation counseling and measures while the park manufacturers also take carbon reduction actions in an attempt to reduce the environmental burden.

2. Counseling of Energy Conservation for Park Manufacturers

We handled energy conservation counseling for 6 park business units in 2023 and have completed counseling for 74 park business units so far since the implementation of the counseling service. In terms of the actual results of the energy conservation measures, the total power saved was approximately 10,601.1 million kWh annually, equivalent to the reduction of 52,370.92 tons of carbon dioxide emissions in a year.

3. Briefing Session Related to Environmental Protection

To understand the development trend of national environmental protection control and environmental regulations and management systems, 2 environmental protection-related briefing sessions were held in accordance with the characteristics of park. We cooperated with the Pathways to Net-Zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 2050 and include resource recycling and zero waste into one of the 12 key strategies. On July 25, 2023, the briefing meeting of business waste resource recycling network promotion and solid renewable fuel application trend was held. In addition, in response to the requirements of Ministry of Environment for testing plans and license applications, and to encourage park manufacturers to manage, inspect and audit all their waste flows, we held a briefing on Stationary Pollution Sources Declaration Platform System Operation and Zero Waste Landfill Verification on October 26, 2023.
